The Performance Contract

The Performance Contract is an integral part of the Compu-Tools Assessment systems.  If any of the Compu-Tools Computerized Assessment Instruments determine that a client has a conclusive pattern of destructive behaviors, a Performance Contract development Module is activated.  The Performance Contract module interacts with the users input and assists in developing a behavioral improvement plan that is tailored to each individual’s needs and requirements.  Because the Client has assisted in developing the Performance Contract criteria, he, or she, is more likely to accept and agree to the conditions.

Assessments that analyze an individual’s destructive behavior patterns generally determine the existence, nature and severity of such behaviors.  Based on these assessment results, clinical recommendations are made that are designed to provide a roadmap to improved behaviors for the individual involved.  Experienced clinicians are trained to know what actions the client should take to maximize the probability of future improvements.  Unfortunately, the actions that should be taken are not always the actions that can be taken.  Independent circumstances may be such that the recommendations are impossible to fulfill. (e.g. no transportation, no services available, etc…)  The unilateral development of these recommendations by the clinician is generally done without client involvement and a client “buy in” to the conditions that were developed.  Without this “buy in”, the Performance Contract is not truly “owned” by the client.

The development of the Compu-Tools Performance Contract is conditioned on:

·         The Client’s willingness to participate in a program of improvement.

·         The Client’s participation in developing acceptable Performance Contract conditions.

·         The Clinician’s experience and knowledge of available and appropriate resources.

·         The Client’s willingness to agree to the conditions that were mutually developed.

Featured included with the Performance Contract Module:

·         A Standard set of screening questions assists the User and Clinician with the development of basic Performance Contract elements.

·         An elective list of additional contract Elements can be added to the Contract from drop down lists. (These can be added to Individual Contracts or added a standard Contract template for the Clinician or Organization.)

·         Custom contract elements can be added to the standard set of conditions and to the elective list of conditions. (These can be added to Individual Contracts or added a standard Contract template for the Clinician or Organization.)

·         The User is presented with the option of accepting, or refusing to accept, the Contract Conditions that have been developed.

·         A signature block is included for the Clinician, Client and any witnesses that are appropriate.

Monitoring Performance Contract Conditions – Case Management Services:

The Performance Contract provides the Client with a roadmap to behavioral improvement.  All too often, however, the program ends with the presentation of the Contract to the Client.  The Compu-Tools Performance Contract is built with the Client’s assistance and involvement.  It is appropriate, therefore, to begin behavioral improvement at the time the Contract is signed.  Once the Client has signed the Contract, he, or she, should assume responsible for adhering to the conditions of the agreement and for reporting to the referral source.  (See Monitoring or Case Management)
